Project Scope: Rebuilding Connections for Recreation and Access
Situated at the interface of a major park and a critical freshwater reservoir, the project’s goal was to restore and enhance public recreational spaces, improve accessibility, and bring upgraded amenities to the Kwun Tong District. Amain Engineering Development Limited was responsible for the complete construction and integration of sports, leisure, and accessibility infrastructure within a compact programme of just seven months.
Key Works Delivered:
1. Construction of Ancillary Facilities Building
We built a new multi-purpose community service building equipped with:
•Public toilets
•Babycare room
•Management office
•Storage room and operational support facilities
This user-centric facility ensures visitors enjoy safe, comfortable, and clean services while promoting better management of public assets.
2. Barrier-Free Connectivity:Lift Tower, Staircases, and a 60-metre Footbridge
To improve connectivity across varied elevations in the park and reservoir areas, Amain constructed:
•A new lift tower and accompanying staircases
•A 60-metre-long footbridge, designed for full barrier-free access
•Continuous wayfinding and support features for universal accessibility
These upgrades ensure that all park users — including the elderly, families with strollers, and people with mobility challenges — can move freely and safely between the park and surrounding areas.
3. Construction of Recreational Sports Facilities
The project focused heavily on promoting active lifestyles through the reprovisioning of full-scale recreational facilities, including:
•A 7-a-side soccer pitch with durable surfacing
•Multi-use basketball courts
•Well-designed tennis courts and related sports
infrastructure
These rejuvenated facilities ensure that residents from all generations have access to quality sports spaces in their own neighbourhood.
4. Passive Recreation and Community-Oriented Landscaping
Beyond sports infrastructure, Amain delivered a range of passive recreational spaces, landscaped for community wellness and environmental harmony:
•Lawn areas for relaxation and informal gatherings
•Elderly fitness zones with age-friendly equipment
•Thoughtfully shaded sitting-out areas
•Children’s playground encouraging inclusive play
•Native and drought-resistant landscape planting
The integration of green and built environments reflects today’s standards for multi-generational, multifunctional park design.
